JLL’s Women’s Business Network (WBN) – Dallas Chapter recently elected to sponsor and attend Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support’s annual Young Leaders Masquerade event. The Genesis Women’s Shelter provides an all-encompassing approach to helping women and children in crisis, and has a very positive reputation throughout the region.
“Out of several organizations nominated, the Executive Committee chose Genesis event because it combined opportunities to support a women focused organization, get our name in the community, meet like-minded professionals, and have a fun occasion to get to know each other better outside the office,” said Amanda Deaton, WBN Dallas Chapter Lead.
The special event raised nearly $200,000 that will be used to provide safety, shelter and expert counseling services at no cost to nearly 1,300 women and children in the DFW metro area.
“It was a perfect opportunity for the WBN to demonstrate our commitment to the community while networking with some of the 700 professionals that were in attendance,” said Deaton. “I was so proud to be a part of JLL and the WBN when we walked in and saw our name on the sponsorship boards. We know we are making a difference in women’s lives”.
Amanda attended the event with fellow JLL WBN active members Tate Whetstone, Andrea Wilkins, Faith Davis, Ashley Watson and April Kaiser.
The Women’s Business Network is one of six JLL Diversity & Inclusion-driven employee resource groups (ERGs) launched with the goal of bringing like-minded employees together who share similar interests and experiences. These groups not only help attract, develop and retain diverse talent, but they can also foster a more inclusive environment, as well as create potential business opportunities.
