With more than 300 attendees on hand looking on, including construction workers, employees, developers, business partners and elected officials, the highest steel beam was put in place on what will serve as AmerisourceBergen’s new home at Austin Ranch in Carrollton, Texas on Thursday.

The Topping Out event was a major milestone for the company, which remains on schedule to be completed in early 2019.

“Our vision for this location is to create a space that fosters collaboration for us as a business unit, enhances our functionality and how we work together as a business unit, and really showcases our business growth that we’ve had at AmerisourceBergen,” said Doug Cook, President of Global Specialty Logistics. “This is a really big deal. We’ve been calling this our Carrolton Journey for the last year and a half. We’ve really enjoyed taking this journey with all of you and we wanted to say thank you today. It wouldn’t be possible without your continued support.”

Members of JLL’s Office Tenant Representation team, who secured the office location for the healthcare group, and Project and Development Services team, on boarded to coordinate the design and construction activities of the new office, were on hand to celebrate the firm’s momentous occasion.

“AmerisourceBergen selected this land and designed this campus with their associates in mind,” said Chasity Jansa Oakes, Vice President, JLL Project and Development Services, who is managing the day-to-day operations on the project.  “They have gone above and beyond to listen to the wants and needs of their associates through designated Change Champions participating in focus groups and other engagement opportunities. We’re proud to have been selected as their strategic partner and excited to see the great progress thus far.”

The design naturally allows associates to be connected to the outdoors with more access to natural light, connections to walking trails and incredible views. Combined with strategically placed conferencing, training, café and break areas, the building design is expected to create more engagement between associates, clients, customers and leadership.

“Together we are making their concepts and ideas into a reality, creating their ideal office environment while aligning with the leadership’s strategic vision,” added Oakes. “Now we are looking forward to focusing on the interiors construction and see the building come to life.”

Upon completion, the 300,000-square-foot building at Austin Ranch will bring together the specialty business lines of AmerisourceBergen Company with up to 1,900 associates. AmerisourceBergen has the option to expand, adding two additional buildings at this campus location for future growth.

The groundbreaking was held in April 2017.
